THE CONCEPT

The main objective of this program is to equip the Auditors and/or Operational Staff with the necessary tool in an increasingly complex financial environment.  The FIG Program is a MUST ATTEND for every bank auditor and operational staff that desires to be effective in the discharge of his duties and responsibilities.  The last few years have seen spectacular growth in the range and types of financial instruments.  The level of resource devoted by institutions operating in the City of London, New York and Singapore has grown rapidly from this boom in the capital markets.  Innovative methods of matching investors' and issuers' need, together with the design of "bells and whistles" to sell securities is a feature of the Euromarkets.  The range of instruments available is continually increasing and issuers, investors, and their advisors have to understand the terminology, concepts, purposes and, most importantly, the risks involved with each instrument.

The AUDITORS, OPERATION STAFF and even Branch MANAGEMENT do not always fully understand the risks.  Some products are difficult to understand; others go out for some years and longer term risks may be difficult to foresee.  At the operational level, the day-to-day running of the bank in this area is in reality very much inclined towards crisis management.  Whenever a "new" product is traded by the treasurer, the backroom staff will have to tap the bank's global resources by calling London or Paris or wherever they can locate the "experts".

This ought not to be so.  Something is very wrong.  This situation must be addressed.  The key solution is in adopting a: Total Solution & Products (TS&Ps) Approach Training.

FIG program offered by CFE-In-Practice is the only known training program outside USA and UK that provide the Financial Instruments Guide for Bank Auditors and Operational Staff.
